Club Members' Mileage
Club Mileage Goals Guidelines

In February, the club obtained insurance that covers club members if the ride is announced and members sign a ride sheet attesting to their attendance. The insurance ride sheet can document how the ride was announced, how many miles the ride was, and who participated in the group ride.

Mileage goals may be transmitted to the club via club email (bicycle@sanangelobicycleassociation.com), message board, or to jrr100maj@yahoo.com.

Guidelines for members who wish to establish a goal and strive to meet it:

  • Ride must be publically announced at least one day in advance to give all members a chance to ride. Any club member may announce a ride. Public announcement can be made by the SABA website message board, SABA weekly announcements, or on the SABA Facebook page. All routine club rides listed on the SABA website are considered a qualifying ride.

  • Qualifying ride is defined as a minimum of two club members and a club ride leader (three club members).

  • Sign in sheet must be turned in for back-up insurance and ride documentation. Sign in sheets may be given to a board member, mailed to the club P.O. Box, or turned in at a local bike shop.

  • Minimum qualifying mileage goal will be 560 miles (about 20 miles per week x 28 weeks) during the biking season March 13 through November 7. In fairness to all, a person who decides to participate later in the season must declare a 560 mile goal. Exception: a member who joins the club mid-season may request a modified goal.

  • Recognition will be proportional to the established goal. For example: a person accomplishing the 560 mile goal may receive a certificate or accomplishment; a person accomplishing a 1,000 mile goal may receive a certificate of accomplishment, a T shirt, and club baseball hat.
